Progress Night Flyer

As mentioned on Chilli JAM last month, Progress is a new monthly party coming to Wellies…

Here is what Adam P, DJ and promoter had to say about the night:

“Progress is a night all about the music. A monthly party night brought to Wellington by two local dj’s who feel they need to push the club scene further forward than ever before.”

“Adam P has been DJing for around 4 years now and has gained several residencies in clubs across his home country in the UK and also in Sydney Australia. His main interest lies where the heart is, in underground House music. Both Adam and Empyre play anything from funky vocal tribal house through to deep down and dirty electro and tech house. They feel the Wellington dance scene disappeared years back leaving drum n bass to take over. ‘Wellington is heavily dominated by Drum n Bass which in all due respect to the talent of the producers who create the music, is just not that danceable. The whole of Europe, USA and Australia is heavily dominated by House and Electro for a reason, and want to bring this back to Wellington with a boom!’ Tech - House is also becoming huge across the rest of the world and it seems to be a really taboo thing in Wellington. Lets change that and get people back into dancing with a smile on their face.”

“The night will start off very funky with Empyre, a local DJ of over 5 years, throwing in plenty of sexy female vocals and plenty of dancable beats. There will be a drop down at the back of the DJ booth with videos and images created by the two dj’s to go along with the music. A local bongo player with also be joining the two dj’s to create a more fun bouncy jungle atmosphere for the first half of the night before things get down and dirty from 2:30am where Adam P and Empyre will battle it out on the decks with lots of huge build ups, dirty bass drops and plenty of vocal accapellas for people who really want to dance to some huge Electro rips.”

“So if you want a crazy night of partying join us and make our first night go off! P.S bring your sunnies ;)”

Klaus'

Sandwiches and Stereotype present Klaus Hill (Ministry of Sound Australia)

If a DJ/Producer is measured by consistency then surely Klaus Hill is up there with the greatest. For over a decade Klaus has filled rooms with his trademark ball & wall tearing sound that has seen him become a firm favourite on the Australian and worldwide DJ circuit and a Producer whose sound is instantly recognisable.

Klaus Hill has honed a new sound that can only be described as fresh, wobbly and well, so Klaus it hurts! “Boombaclart” (featured on the Ministry of Sound Annual 2008) was a call to arms from a Producer who knows how to break stale formulas and create a party like no other. His “Dirt Diver” EP on ground breaking label, Potty Mouth, turned even more heads in the dance community, defying as many genres as it embraced. Support for his new sound has come from the international djing elite, including The Plump DJ’s, Micky Slim, Trevor Lovey’s, Jesse Rose and Switch.

As a resident, guest DJ or Producer the hallmarks of the Klaus run throughout when the big man of dance is involved. Unique, inspired and original, watching Klaus pogo his way through a DJ set is a sight to behold!
Klaus tours the world routinely where European and Asian audiences are thirsty for the big man to give their systems a workout. In Australia he regularly shakes the biggest rooms in the country to their foundations including institutions such as Home and Family.
With his latest productions reeking more havoc then a dingo stealing a baby, now may be a goodtime to gasp at the length and breadth of the Klaus Hill back catalogue. Take a seat; you’ll be here for a while.

Jaxpratt (Canada)
and the Stereotype lads - Johnny Kingdom, Vernon & Daymon.

Plus The Monkey Business Boys - Wade & Stu with guest Amy Barnett keeping it fresh and funky in the bar.

Anitx aka Fiord Live at Sandwiches - Friday 25 September 0

Antix aka Fiord at Sandwiches'

Sandwiches presents

Stereotype

featuring

Antix live - aka. Fiord

with
Vernon, Johnny Kingdom and Daymon

Friday 25 September

Sandwiches in association with Stereotype are amped to bring you one of New Zealand’s best underground progressive and techno artists, Barton Strom of ANTIX.

Taking time out from touring, Barton joins the Stereotype DJs Vernon, Daymon, and Johnny Kingdom for a quality night of cutting edge music.

Since their first release in 2003, brothers Barton and Hayden Strom have had a selection of critically acclaimed albums. With a string of killer live performances their infectious bass lines and enticing grooves have helped the brothers build a solid reputation as one of the most in demand progressive and techno acts on the planet.

Last year the boys raised the bar even higher with their album WANDERERS and the follow up DVD/CD WANDERING - a collection of remixes and documentary footage from their last US tour.

2008 started out with a bang with ANTIX being nominated and then placed runner up for the best in their game on the Beatport Music Awards.

And if that’s not all, they also produce and remix as FIORD with releases on Dieb Audio, Sprout, Underwater, Therapy Music and Whoop! With support and high praise from Hernan Cattaneo, D-nox, Frank Beckers, Anthony Pappa, Jim Rivers and John Digweed the future is definitely moving Fiord.

If you love progressive and deep techno, this is an evening not to be missed.
